I played edie for quite a while and was very much interested in edee.  I was hoping for better graphics, the ability to mod individual units to suit my taste, and the ability to add a few units I was interested in.  When the game came out I was very disappointed because it was unplayable against the computer.  The ai was virtually non-existant.  For me, that was the end of the game because I never play multi, only solo.  I was in the process of simply going back to edie when I started fooling around with it.  I had zero understanding of the script or its relationship to the game ai.  Slowly I started realizing one of the main problems was that most of the units were not programmed to work intelligently.  This, in itself, crippled the computer opponent.  Then, I started looking at the script to see if I could understand it at all.  Started fooling around with it and noticed some improvements.  I took out all the units that the ai had trouble with.  Over a year I refined the unitdb and the script and finally came out with the final product.  Mark helped me quite a bit to understand the script.  To my knowledge, this is the only mod available that will give a human player a good game against the computer opponent.
